India
is leading the list of the most favoured outsourcing destinations
across the world. A World Bank-funded study in the United
States confirmed that vendors rated India as their number
one choice for outsourcing.
India
is currently home to 228 offshoring projects, followed by
Britain’s 187, China’s 132, America’s 123,
Canada’s 98, and Singapore’s 95. Behind Singapore
are Germany and Ireland with 77 each, Australia with 72, and
the Netherlands with 52, according to the data gathered by
United Nations Conference on Trade and Development (UNCTAD).
In an article on India's prowess in the outsourcing domain,
several analysts and outsourcing parties believed that cost
was no longer the only reason why outsourcing to India is
an attractive option. Companies in countries such as Russia
and China have begun offering better rates than Indian companies.
"The difference lies in the scalability of major
Indian vendors, their strong focus on quality and their experience
delivering a wide range of services", says John
Blanco, senior vice president at Cablevision Systems Corp.
in Bethpage, N.Y. The new mantra of offshore outsourcing to
India is quality solutions. When processes are offshored to
India, companies not only get the advantage of low cost but
also experience improvement in productivity and quality. These
are the reasons that should motivate offshore outsourcing
to India.
India
emerging as a global brand in terms of superior quality is
not only being seen in BPO but also in manufacturing which
had so far been considered China's forte.
